Internship

Meet John Michael, Haventree Bank's Servicing Administrator Intern

What did you enjoy most about working with us?

The aspect I enjoyed most about working with Haventree Bank was the new experiences, the work environment, and the overall nature of the company and its employees. Working here for the past 8 months or so has been a fantastic experience. I have acquired new skills and have learned life lessons that I wouldn’t have learned elsewhere by helping around the office. These experiences, along with the professional skills I’ve gained, have made this a really great internship.

The workplace environment is remarkably positive, with everyone being supportive and friendly, both in person and online. I’ve never experienced such a positive workplace culture, and I believe it’s proof of the company’s value.

Can you share a time when you had an opportunity to collaborate with your team or another department? What was the end result? - Collaboration Value.

In my role on the customer service and tax teams, I collaborated with various departments daily to manage mail distribution. This involved handling both standard mail through Canada Post, incoming and outgoing, as well as registered mail across different teams.

The result was always positive, as we successfully delivered mail to clients, ensured the receipt of important information, and sent mail to the relevant departments within Haventree Bank to be properly handled.

Can you share a specific instance where you demonstrated perseverance to overcome a difficult situation? – Tenacity Value.

I cannot recall any major challenges I’ve faced; it’s mainly been minor hiccups where I needed to consult with colleagues for assistance. Everyone has been incredibly helpful and supportive, which has led to an efficient workflow without any significant issues.

Could you share a project or task where you introduced a creative approach or idea? - Creativity Value.

When talking about a creative approach, one example that comes to mind is how I streamlined my work processes to be more efficient. Inputting hundreds of notes into our system was quite time-consuming, so finding ways to improve the process made a big difference. Additionally, I have a couple of operational ideas that I would like to explore more.

What is the value of the company that inspires you the most and why? (Collaboration, Integrity, Tenacity, Empathy & Creativity)

The value of Haventree Bank that inspires me the most is Collaboration. The teamwork among the staff provides a huge morale boost and a comforting feeling as I know that there’s always someone willing to lend a hand and offer a friendly face. This kind of environment is wonderful.

How did this position fit into your long-term career goals?

This position fits with my long-term goals. Working at Haventree Bank has provided me with valuable insights and perspectives I had not thought about before. It has expanded my horizons and opened new doors I had not considered before. Thanks to Haventree Bank, I could see myself in a long-term career in the finance industry.
